Graduation, like any big moment in life, is all about what you are going to wear!! From prom to first dates to marriage to any major event, women in particular seem to sweat about what they are going to put on.
To be honest, I hadn't really given the matter much thought until about a week ago. A girl in my science class was using our computer for non-scientific purposes (online shopping). She asked me what I thought of a pair of shoes, which her mom was going to buy her for graduation. As I gave her my thumbs-up, I realized - oh my gosh! I don't know what I'm going to wear!
Does it really matter? I mean, we're going to be covered by the world's frumpiest clothing invention of all time: the graduation gown. I have one word for you - YES. It matters. It matters a lot.
So I set out this weekend to find the perfect look for my slightly out-of-shape bod. My first shoppping trip (with my middle child, Hailey in tow) resulted in the purchase of a super-cute 60's retro dress and white patent wedge heels - FOR HAILEY!!! After learning the hard way never to take her on a shopping trip intended for me, I set out again, armed with a 30% off coupon and a grim determination. I had seen two really cute dresses online, but I knew a purchase this important needed to be tried on first. As I searched the racks at the store, my heart sank - they had the size smaller and the size bigger, but of course not my size!!! I grabbed the other two and headed for the dressing room, hoping for a miracle. It came in the form of a smoothly sliding zipper, the small size encasing my waist perfectly. Yippee!!! Not only did I have the per-fect dress, but I fit into a size that put a smile on my face.
So here's to all the graduates, brides, prom dates and party-goers: may your hunt for the perfect dress be just as successful!
